Selecting the correct size is one foremost step in successful wedding dress shopping journey. But this shouldn’t be daunting at all. Though we always recommend getting measured by a professional, you are totally capable to get the job done at home with the help of your family or friends if you follow this measuring guide.

How to Measure

First, one common misunderstanding needs to be cleared. Wedding dress sizing and all other formal dress sizing is different from that of your daily wear. Don’t rush to choose your regular clothing size. Please measure yourself to get the actual measurement by using a soft measure tape. Make sure the tape is pulled evenly across your body without slack.

The other requirements are taking your measurements barefoot, and never measuring over clothing except undergarments. Better with the same or similar undergarment you are going to wear on the event day. Now we will walk through every step of measuring process. Ready?

A. BUST: This is NOT your daily bra size! Wear an unpadded bra (your dress will be made with a built-in bra). Relax arms at sides. Pull tape across the fullest part of the bust.

B. WAIST: Bend to one side to find the natural crease of your waist. This is the slimmest part of the waist and measure across at this point. Keep tape slightly loose to allow for breathing room.

C. HIPS: Stand with feet together. Measure around the fullest part of the hips and rear. Tape should brush across both hipbones.

D. HOLLOW TO FLOOR: Stand straight with feet together. Measure from the center of your collarbone (hollow) straight down to the floor.

E. HEIGHT: Stand straight with feet together. Begin at the top of the head and pull tape straight down to the floor. Please note that Height minus Hollow to Floor should be 8~14 inches.

Now you get all the above measurements. You can choose a size according to our size chart.

Free Custom Sizing

Don’t be upset if you don’t fit in any sizes. This is very common. We usually recommend customers purchase a gown that fits the largest measurement and then have the other parts taken in by a local tailor.

The great news is that we also do custom sizing according to your exact measurements. This is a free service and does not take more time than the standard size. We want the perfect fit for all of customers. If you need custom sizing, please click for Custom Measurements on the item page to fill in your measurements. Please note that custom sizing dresses are not eligible for return or exchange unless there are quality issues.

In custom sizing, more measurements are often needed to ensure a perfect fit. For dresses with sleeves, we need the following two measurements.

ARMHOLE: Put the tape around your shoulder and across your armhole. Please measure with bare shoulders.

ARM CIRCUMFERENCE: Relax your arm. Put the tape around the fullest part of your upper arm. Please measure with bare arm.

If you have concerns on the fitting of dress with sleeves, please provide detailed information including but not limited to elbow girth, wrist girth, shoulder width, sleeve length.

If the dress is not floor length, we also need the hollow to hemline measurement which measures from the center of collar bone to the hemline to help determine the length of the dress. You can tell us the measurements by leaving a note.

Please watch the measuring video for a vivid demonstration of measuring process. Hope it helps.

3.      Do your dresses run true to size?

As all of our gowns are 100% hand-sewn by professional tailors, the finished dresses may vary by about one inch in either direction of the specific measurements. This is inevitable with hand-made items. To ensure perfect fit, our tailoring team will leave some extra fabric in the seams for future alteration.

All finished gowns will have to go through quality control inspection twice. If you think the measurements of your dress is off to request, please send us pictures of you wearing the dress and have a professional measuring it.
